Queensland name squad for Origin I

There were no surprises in the Queensland team announcement for Origin I, although an elbow injury suffered by Daly Cherry-Evans on Monday night has clouded the final make-up of the Maroons’ 17.

As expected, Will Chambers was retained on the flank – largely thanks to a dearth of wing talent north of the border – with Darius Boyd grabbing the other wing spot after two games back for the Broncos.

Jacob Lillyman has also kept his place in the Queensland side, joining debutant Josh McGuire on the bench; Dylan Napa is 18th man.

Michael Morgan appears to be the front-runner to replace the in-doubt Cherry-Evans, with Ben Hunt also a chance after fulfilling the role at Test level last year. Napa could also be promoted with debutant McGuire and Matt Gillett already providing some versatility off the bench.
