NSW unchanged for Origin decider

New South Wales has named an unchanged squad for next week’s State of Origin decider at Suncorp Stadium, attempting to carry the same 17 that levelled the series with a stirring 26-18 victory over Queensland at the MCG in game two.

But there is one change likely to be made, with vice-captain and hooker Robbie Farah battling a painful hand fracture. If, as expected, Farah is ruled out, the Blues are set to use a controversial loophole to replace him with Michael Ennis, who is set to sit out Cronulla’s Round 17 clash through suspension.

Coach Laurie Daley also resisted the urge to drop underperforming winger Will Hopoate, despite rumours last week that Blake Ferguson was a chance of being drafted onto the Blues’ flank.

Josh Jackson’s successful downgrade of a dangerous tackle charge allowed him to keep his spot on the bench after missing Canterbury’s Round 16 fixture, while Michael Jennings’ arrest just two days after his man-of-the-match performance in Origin II was not enough to prompt his axing from the side.
