Brisbane has extinguished any faint hopes Canterbury had of playing post-season football in 2017, powering to a 42-12 victory at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday night.

The Bulldogs started impressively and scored first through Marcelo Montoya, but two tries in the last five minutes of the first half – including a dazzling on-the-siren effort finished off by Jordan Kahu – broke the visitors backs.

The Broncos dominated possession and territory against a sloppy and ill-disciplined Bulldogs outfit after the break, and after some decent resistance from the blue-and-whites, the home side piled on four tries in the last 22 minutes, with James Roberts notching a late brace.
