Jarryd Hayne has been unstoppable this season and his form has reached career-best levels in recent weeks, virtually carrying Parramatta to victory with sensational consecutive doubles against Gold Coast, Cronulla and Canberra.
But even the NRL’s megastars don’t always have it their own way, as Hayne found out courtesy of Raiders hitman Joel Edwards’ shoulder in Darwin last Saturday.
Looming dangerously and taking a deft short ball from Joesph Paulo, the ‘Hayne Plane’ was momentarily grounded after being crunched in one of the hits of the season by Edwards, who was sweating on the brilliant fullback.
But being the superstar Hayne is, he dusted himself off and produced this spectaular effort late in the match for his 100th NRL try.
