He already scored one of the greatest individual tries in the code’s history against Brisbane earlier in the season, and now Greg Inglis has posted another contender for the try of 2014 at the Broncos’ expense in a virtuoso 80-minute display for the dominant Rabbitohs.
The second part of Inglis’ dazzling hat-trick was out of this world, sprinting through to catch an Adam Reynolds kick on the full, bumping off opposing fullback Josh Hoffman and passing to Sam Burgess, before taking a return pass from Burgess and diving over.
The bizarre crab-walk he has co-opted into his post-try celebrations recently is less impressive, but Inglis’ performance in Souths’ 42-16 demolition of the desperate Broncos reminded everyone that Jarryd Hayne is not the only show in town.
Inglis earned rare ‘10’ rating from Rugby League Week – just the 22nd dished out in the revered publication’s history – and cemented the Rabbitohs’ status as, at the very least, equal premiership favourites with Manly.
So good we’ll give it to you twice.
For the sake of try-of-the-season comparisons – and because it’s so great – here’s Inglis’ long-range stunner from Round 8.
