Greatest Origin tries No.9: 'Joey' sets up 'ET'

Josh Morris’ try for NSW in the 2015 series opener – set up by a James Tamou offload, a Josh Dugan break and a brilliant kick ahead by the fullback – was one of the greatest in State of Origin history.

In the week leading up to game two, we’re counting down the top 10 tries in Origin’s 35 seasons – and it wasn’t an easy task whittling down such a huge field of contenders!

No.9 in the countdown is a real favourite here at Commentary Box Sports, featuring an unbelievable run by a 22-year-old Andrew Johns to set up a try for veteran centre Andrew Ettingshausen in the 1996 dead-rubber at Suncorp Stadium.

Playing at hooker, Johns displayed footwork, evasion, two fends and sheer tenacity to leave five Queensland defenders in his wake in an extraordinary 50-metre charge before popping a flick pass for Andrew Ettingshausen to score the opening try, which he converted.

NSW went on to complete a series whitewash in a 15-14 thriller.
