Building up to the State of Origin series opener at Suncorp Stadium, we’re counting down the 10 greatest individual performances in Origin history.

At No.10 we’ve selected Johnathan Thurston’s mesmerising display in game three of the 2012 series.

Thurston’s virtuoso display in the heart-stopping decider garnered his fourth Origin man-of-the-match award.

He kick-started a passing movement and backed up to score from a Corey Parker offload, made another searing break later in the first half and slotted four goals in the 21-20 victory – his record-equalling 24th consecutive Origin appearance.

Thurston’s genius in this game inspired Phil Gould’s now-famous ‘What Makes A Great Origin Player’ tribute.
