Dave Taylor's defensive line-break assist

Dave Taylor is nothing if not explosive, but the giant backrower-cum-centre’s bulk and power back-fired during his Gold Coast side’s 28-8 loss to North Queensland on Saturday night.

After kicking off to the Cowboys during the first half, Taylor screamed through to help his teammates tackle Gavin Cooper, but only succeeded in pole-axing his skipper Nate Myles, allowing Cooper to break away into open territory.

Taylor was perhaps lucky he did not connect with Cooper, though, as he would have likely been pinged for a pretty blatant shoulder-charge.

The oft-maligned ‘Coal Train’ has once again mixed the good with the bad in 2014, but his involvement and enthusiasm have been career-best, and he should be commended for his efforts across the season.
