Sydney FC eye European reinforcements

Sydney FC are looking to Europe for reinforcements as a mounting injury toll threatens their top-four ambitions.

Sky Blues coach Graham Arnold believes Nick Carle’s season could be over after the midfielder injured himself in a late tackle on Melbourne Victory’s Leigh Broxham, a prognosis that would place him alongside long-term casualties Ali Abbas and Corey Gameiro.

Arnold revealed the club could move to bring in “potentially three very good European players” in January’s transfer window, including from Germany’s Bundesliga and the French Ligue 1.

Sydney have lost just once this season and sit three points adrift of third-placed Adelaide United.
