McBreen wins golden boot

Central Coast Mariners striker, Daniel McBreen, has won the golden boot award for the regular season with 17 goals.

At the start of the season, Mariners coach Graham Arnold promised McBreen a new contact if he scores 10 goals this season. It looks like McBreen, who turns 36 this month, has played his way into a new deal.

It was a tight finish:

17; Daniel McBreen, (CCM)
16; Jeremy Brockie, (Phoenix)
15; Marco Rojas, (Victory)
14; Besart Berisha (Roar) and Alessandro Del Piero (Sydney FC)
11; Mark Bridge (Wanderers)

Honourable mention must go to Jeremy Brockie with 16 goals for the last place Wellington Phoenix.
