The ICC’s latest Test batting and bowling rankings are out, and Australian stars Steve Smith and Josh Hazlewood are among the big winners.
Aussie captain Smith, whose stellar series against Pakistan lifted his career average above 60 after 50 Test appearances, is the world’s No.1-ranked batsman, ahead of Indian counterpart Virat Kohli.

Prolific duo Kane Williamson (NZ) and Joe Root (Eng) took out the next two spots, while the in-form David Warner rounds out the top five.
India’s spin wizards Ravi Ashwin and Ravi Jadeja are the top-ranked bowlers, but Hazlewood is Test cricket’s new pace king in third spot, capping a brilliant summer for the 26-year-old.
Hazlewood landed ahead of South African trio Dale Steyn, Kagiso Rabada and Vernon Philander, and veteran England pair James Anderson and Stuart Broad. Meanwhile, despite an under-par summer from a wicket-taking perspective, Hazlewood’s fast-bowling partner Mitchell Starc has hung onto a spot in the top 10.
