Norwood claims SANFL Grand Final thriller

Norwood secured its third straight SANFL premiership via a pulsating four-point win over Port Adelaide in the Grand Final, the first played at the iconic Adelaide Oval since 1973.

The Redlegs opened up a 22-point quarter-time advantage, but the Port Magpies roared back into the contest during the second term.

Norwood ultimately hung on for a 12.10 (82) to 11.12 (78) triumph, with Matthew Panos taking out the prestigious Jack Oatey Medal as best-on-ground.

The decider drew a crowd of 38,644 to Adelaide Oval – a figure second-tier competitions in rival football codes could only dream about.
