Friday night’s preliminary final may have been a bit of a fizzer – particularly compared to Saturday’s thriller – with the Buddy Franklin-inspired Sydney Swans advancing via a 71-point thrashing of North Melbourne.
But there were more than enough dazzling pieces of play to keep everyone entertained as the Swans put on a masterclass, not least of which was this sensational mark by young Sydney star Luke Parker during the second quarter.
The 21-year-old Parker produced team-high tallies for tackles (8) and handballs (17), while his 26 disposals was just one behind Josh Kennedy, and he trailed only dominant forward duo Franklin and Kurt Tippett in the marks column, claiming eight.
Parker debuted as 18-year-old in 2011 and featured in the Swans’ Grand Final win over Hawthorn a year later. He will make his 82nd appearance in this week’s decider.
