Best of Sydney Swans from 2014

Their 63-point grand final drubbing at the hands of Hawthorn was devastating, but it’s easy to forget the Sydney Swans produced a plethora of brilliant highlights in 2014.

After losing three of their first four games, the Swans went on a club record-equalling 12-match winning streak as megastar signing Buddy Franklin started to hit his straps.

The Swans finished as minor premiers courtesy of a better percentage than the Hawks and Cats after all three heavyweights crafted 17-5 records.

Sydney then subdued Fremantle in the qualifying final and crushed North Melbourne by 71 points in the preliminary final, offering few signs of the grand final aberration that was to follow.

Check out the Swans’ top 10 plays from 2014, featuring the spellbinding best of Jarrad McVeigh, Lewis Jetta, Nick Smith, Luke Parker, Craig Bird, Ben McGlynn – and a stack of incredible goals by Franklin.
