Texans superstar JJ Watt has suffered a reaggravation of an injury that was nagging him during the offseason. The fears of every Texans fan was fully realized yesterday as the Texans announced that they would be placing Watt on the league’s Injured Reserve list.

Watt had surgery in the offseason to repair a herniated disc, and the new setback is believed to be related to the same injury. Whether Watt rushed back too quickly will no doubt be questioned, with the Texans fearing that he will miss the entire season.

With the injury, the stability of the Texans’ defense now becomes a major issue. The defense is young, and leaned heavily on Watt to provide stability. Without Watt, the linebacker-centric Texans will call upon unproven talent Jadaveon Clowney, who has had injury issues himself.
The Texans, widely viewed as the favorites in the AFC South, now will have to readjust without their leader.
