The New England Patriots made a huge statement on Sunday, routing the Denver Broncos 43-21.
Since losing to the Seahawks 26-20 in overtime, the Broncos had looked nearly unbeatable prior to locking horns with Brady and Company.
The question is: Was this just an off game, or are the Pats truly the crème de la crème in the AFC?
Manning shouldered much of the blame for the loss in the post game press conference, alluding to his odorous performance:
Peyton clearly holds himself to ridiculous standards. While both of Manning’s interceptions led to Patriots touchdowns, his overall stat line was far from stinky. The QB threw for 438 yards and 2 TDs to go along with his turnovers.
And the Broncos’ defense and special teams still gave up 43 points, so there are plenty of directions to point fingers in that don’t involve #18.
Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson (in cahoots with the Denver O-line) combined for just 34 rushing yards on 13 carries. The Broncos mustered just 43 total yards on the ground.
In all likelihood Peyton will get one more chance this post-season to get the last laugh.
