The New England Patriots made the biggest noise around the trade deadline, dealing stud linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns for just a third-round pick.
With Jamie Collins contract coming up, he was at one point asking for what one league source described as “Von Miller money.” Von: 6-$114.5M

Collins was in the midst of negotiations with the Patriots for a big contract extension, and apparently talks fell through.

The move was quick and stark, and could show how far apart the two sides were on a deal. Reports are Collins was asking for “Von Miller money”.

If true, the quick dealing of Collins shows how crazy the Patriots are and how committed they are to not dealing with distractions. While the move is baffling, it no doubt shows the expectations the Patriots have for their players.
According to my calculations, the Patriots’ defense allows 4.45 yards per run with Jamie Collins on the field and 3.49 with Elandon Roberts.

Still, this will hurt the Pats’ defense – and I’m not sure it was necessary.
