Hernandez Charged; Sanchez Dances

Aaron Hernandez may have ruined his entire life if he did indeed commit the murder of a semi-pro football player. And to think, Hernandez is also a possibility for a double homicide in 2012, according to reports.

It’s a shame and a surprise.

Not surprisingly, though, is the fact that his story continues to dominate the news. We’ll touch on a couple Hernandez updates, but we’ll try to stay away.

News from this past week:

  • Justin Tuck says, “Defense has to carry Giants.” Just like any other year, defense win championships. Whether it’s being stout or forcing turnovers, defenses that are solid always come out on top
  • Jerod Mayo ‘Ignoring the noise’ with Aaron Hernandez’s situation. Isn’t it kind of hard to ignore that noise, Jerod? I mean, he was your teammate. Hernandez was arrested for murder in the first degree. He was held in jail without bail, if that tells you anything. I’m sure we will learn more information as we go along but I support the Patriots for releasing Hernandez quickly
  • Hernandez being looked at in connection to 2012 double-homicide
  • Lions sign former Bears DE Israel Idonije
  • Browns rookie Ausar Walcott charged with attempted murder
  • Maurice Jones-Drew of Jaguars likely won’t face suspension
  • Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez is seen showing off his backside in a video with two women. It’s pretty ridiculous to watch, what on earth was he thinking?

  • Ravens’ Bernard Pierce Robbed At Gunpoint In Philadelphia, according to reports
  • Hakeem Nicks plans additional workouts with Eli Manning before Giants training camp. I’m expecting a return from the Giants this season. Maybe they won’t win another Super Bowl but I bet that they’ll be in the conversation. They have too much talent on offense and defense not to be back in the mix of things come early 2014
  • Eagles’ Bryce Brown denies dogfighting
  • Indianapolis Colts safety Joe Lefeged was arrested after officers found a semi-automatic pistol in the car he was riding in, police said. What is going on in the NFL? Roger Goodell talks constantly about defending the league’s image. These incidents make the NFL look terrible in the eyes of many. We’ll see how he responds

Latest injury news to note:

  • Marcus Lattimore: I probably won’t do 49ers camp. Lattimore will be a fan favorite when he does play in the league because of his injury issues. Hopefully he at least gets a chance to prove himself because he has talent when he’s healthy
  • Lardarius Webb expected back in time for Ravens camp
