It didn’t live up to the headline-grabbing efforts of his first two pre-season outings, but Jarryd Hayne took another positive step in his NFL education during the San Francisco 49ers’ 19-12 loss to the Denver Broncos.
Kept on the sidelines for the first two periods, Hayne made a 12-yard punt return and recorded a 28-yard reception in a solid – if comparatively understated – performance.
Hayne’s faultless punt catching and powerful returns continue to earn plaudits, although he has attracted mild criticism for his upright running style in certain situations.

But all in all, Hayne further enhanced his chances of making the final 53-man roster, with cuts expected to start happening in the coming days.
And the experts believe he’s a dead cert to grab a spot.
If Hayne doesn’t make 49ers, I’ll swim to Australia https://t.co/4THtOqtFar
