Cruz deal; Jets new signing; and more

Tim Tebow has a new team, the Jets added another loudmouth and rookies signed contracts this past week. Here are the details:

News from this past week:

  • Victor Cruz expected to sign his one-year, $2.879 million tender with the NY Giants. He deserves to be paid in a BIG way. He has been one of the best wide receivers in the league and he’s done it for multiple seasons. Expect a huge deal soon
  • Chargers’ Ryan Mathews gets cruel messages on Twitter. Isn’t it ridiculous how powerful people get when they are behind a screen? Social media is a great thing, but for every good thing there is a tremendously terrible thing. This is the type of stuff that makes you sick to your stomach
  • Seahawks’ Brandon Browner would like to wring Jim Harbaugh’s neck. Harbaugh is the type of guy who you either love or hate
  • Ahmad Bradshaw expected to be Colts’ starter, according to sources. Running back has been a concern for the up-and-coming Colts and Bradshaw is going to come in ultra-motivated. Good move
  • Redskins sign Donte’ Stallworth, Devery Henderson
  • Mike Wallace took $16 million less to sign with Dolphins, according to sources. Maybe he just wanted that South Beach style of living, wouldn’t you?
  • Broncos release running back Willis McGahee. Reports are that he was cut due to health issues
  • Tarvaris Jackson has officially signed with the Seattle Seahawks
  • EJ Manuel signs rookie contract with Bills
  • Jets announce signing of tight end Kellen Winslow. Perfect signing for the Jets…another guy who runs his mouth
  • Eagles sign Matt Barkley to four-year contract
  • Report: Peyton Manning will play at least two more seasons. He was fantastic last year while looking like he could maintain his health
  • Patriots’ Robert Kraft: ‘You can’t get enough people like Tim Tebow.” The Patriots signed Tebow earlier in the week, giving him a home for the 2013 NFL season

Latest injury news to note:

  • Lions wide receiver Ryan Broyles (ACL tears) practicing fully
  • Santonio Holmes won’t predict himself for playing Week 1
  • Ed Reed cites Brady kick for injury. It was a sketchy play but you can’t say for sure if it was on purpose
  • Robert Griffin III says he’ll begin making cuts on surgically repaired knee next week
  • Ben Roethlisberger: Knee fine, ‘could play Sunday if I had to’. He has to have a fully healthy year for the Steelers to have any chance of making the postseason
