TEAM USA & BOOMERS OFF TO STRONG START AT OLYMPICS

The Olympics basketball tournament got going yesterday, and Team USA mowed through China in their first game.

It was the second time in a week the star-laden Americans had played the Chinese outfit, playing them in an exhibition last week.

Team USA again hammered China, led by Kevin Durant’s 25 points in a 119-62 rout. The gold medal favourites face Venezuela on Monday.

Australia also got rolling in impressive fashion, standing out on day one as an apparent challenger to Team USA as they rocked France by 21 points

The Boomers were led by Patty Mills’ 21 points in the upset win over a talented French team headed by Nic Batum, Tony Parker and Boris Diaw.
