ESPN presenter Stuart Scott gave a truly remarkable acceptance speech at the 22nd annual ESPY Awards last week.
Scott, a renowned sports broadcaster, received the Jimmy V award as a testament to his severe and public fight against cancer. The (Jimmy) V Foundation was started by Jim Valvano and ESPN in 1993 and has raised over $115 million for cancer research. The latest ESPY’s raised an astounding $6.5 million towards cancer study.
The adored broadcaster has battled cancer for seven years. Recently Scott was admitted to hospital where he underwent four surgeries in the span of seven days.
Scott didn’t believe he would make the event as he was so physically drained.
“When you die it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.” Scott said.
This is one of the most powerful speeches you will ever witness.
Scott, you are a legend.
