En route to leading his nation to an easy 82-63 victory over Brazil in the Basketball World Cup, Pau Gasol looked like a man playing on a different plane than his competition.
In just 29 minutes, the Spanish big man racked up 26 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 blocks, but it wasn’t just his stat line that impressed. He dominated every phase of the game like a grown man on a playground full of primary school kids.
The Bulls, of course, are crossing their fingers that Gasol’s World Cup domination will carry over into the 2014-15 NBA season.
Chicago signed the 7 foot, four time All-Star away from the Lakers in free agency this past off-season in the hopes that he’ll be the final piece to vault the team back into the Finals.
Pau is certainly confident that he’s just the man for the job:
Gasol: “Money obviously wasn’t the priority. I turned down bigger offers and I prioritized being on a championship caliber team.”
